Preach the Word Evangelical Church, International was established in 1982 by Apostle Amos Oyewale and has several locations in Nigeria (Africa) and Europe. Preach the Word Evangelical Church, Houston, Texas (PWEC Houston) was established to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ locally and globally and to study and apply God’s Word (Scriptures). In July 1999 and under the guidance of Holy Spirit, the church was founded in Houston by Apostle Amos Oyewale. The church started with seven people (Apostle Amos Oyewale and his family) and worshipped at his residence.
Within two months, the church moved from Apostle Oyewale’s residence to a leased space with occupancy of about 30 people. A few months later, the church leased its current location, 4134 S. Kirkwood, Houston, Texas 77072.

In 2001, the church purchased the land and buildings at 4134 S. Kirkwood and 4138 S. Kirkwood, Houston, Texas 77072. In March 2008, the church purchased, from the City of Houston, the vacant lot adjacent to the 4138 S. Kirkwood building. This purchase made the
church own the land from 5th Street to 6th Street on S. Kirkwood Road. By His grace, in 2018, the church completed the building of the new auditorium. The address remains 4134 S. Kirkwood, Houston, Texas 77072.

Since its humble beginnings in 1999, the church has grown from seven members and one family to multiple members and families. The church’s focus is on the infallible Word of God. The church’s mandate is “To bring about salvation, healing and blessings to all mankind through the revelation of the word of God”.
